Penang 2012 Day 2

when i'm in the mood to blog, I'M IN THE MOOD YA'LL!

okay focus focus.
for Day 1

so, on day 2 in Penang, it was Christmas Day! and my cousin and hubby was so nice, they came all the way to teman us again.

i got all dressed up in red sempena hari natal.

oh, i forgot to mention my sister and hubby was also in Penang for a short holiday and they joined us for lunch that day at Kedai Kopi Seng Thor cause my sister was craving for oh chien and this was one of the few recommended oh chien places which opened during lunch hour. btw, i don't like oysters, so i judge oh chien by how awesome the egg is. this one wasn't very good. it was too oily. but the mini egg tart the aunty sold next door was ridiculously delicious.

my sister went back after lunch and my cousin brought us on a touristy ride.

our first stop, Kek Lok Si Temple. i don't think i took picture of the temple itself. but here's Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy.

my cousin told us the hilarious story about how when her kids were young, their teacher told them to write an essay about kek lok si temple and cause they were really young that time, they thought it was a place that sold cakes and they wrote something along the lines of "ibu bapa saya telah membawa saya ke kek lok si. di sana, terdapat pelbagai kek" LOL.

here's another one of Kuan Yin being blocked by bunch of lanterns but graced by the presence of epic cuteness.
LOL.

and here's mama! it was really hard trying to get a picture without all the lanterns in the way. but yeay for front cameras! luckily i managed to change phone with my brother a day before the trip.

here's me with a dubious statue of minnie mouse to match my minnie mouse tshirt. mickey and donald were nearby too, which i found really strange.

since we were in the Air Itam area, asam laksa is definitely a MUST HAVE there. if you've been keeping up, this is already my third meal of asam laksa in 2 days muahahaha.
btw, if you ever noticed, sometimes my pictures of food are ridiculously blur. that's because i'm rushing to take a picture before someone gobbles it up and that someone being me.

we had some muah chee too. not the best i've tasted but okay lah...

after that, it's off to Hard Rock hotel.
if you ever want to go Penang and you have alot of extra cash and you're wondering hmmm where does all the hot people stay? IT'S HARD ROCK HOTEL I TELL YOU! we walked pass the pool and oh my, berbanyak2 bikini babes as well as hunky abs board shorts dudes. although, you'll probably feel just a tad bit insecure with your boncit belly after all the yummy food.

anyway, bought 2 tshirts for myself from Hard Rock. while my mom got 1 each for the rest of the family. my mom would buy a hard rock tshirt from all the hard rock she has visited and Penang one is no different. after shopping, we had to take pictures as proof we were there!

our next and final stop, Penang Straits Quay.

it's so pretty, looks like we were overseas. everyone on instagram kept asking where this was.

don't you just hate when your nephew whom you use to carry when they were babies grow so much taller than you? well, i do. hate it hate it hate it.

hello family :)

this was in front of Library. for some reason, this reminds of the restaurants along Southbank in Melbourne.

christmas deco at the Straits Quay mall thing.
cantik kan?

after our lil evening walk, we headed back to nearby our hotel, Red Garden food court. here was a more touristy area soo prices were a little more expensive. some more Anthony Bourdain jalan2 cari makan there before. almost every shop had a picture with him. food here was mediocre.

but after dinner, i knew it was coming.
food poisoning!

until now, i don't know what exactly caused it. was it the food at Kedai Kopi Seng Thor? or the kuihs and egg tarts from the aunty next door? or perhaps it was the asam laksa at Air Itam. you see, i wasn't the only one that had it, practically my whole family had it ranging from mild to crazy bad until have to see doctor. and the thing was, everybody sorta ate different things. aihh... it's one of those things that will probably stay as life's great mysteries.

p/s: i discovered a trick of going around without make up. keep smiling really big until you can't see my eyes ^__^
