strangely, i still think it's 2012.
anyway for Jean's bday this year, we gave her a bunch of suggestions and surprisingly, she picked the one we didn't expect her to. i swear to you, we don't know this girl at all.
her selection was...
a weekend getaway to Avilion PD!
after a couple of ding dongs between Cheryll, Avilion, Mel and other people, we snagged the best price we could for the water chalets.
on the way for me and Mel to pick Cheryll and Jean up from Kajang, we were pretty hungry and decided to get some drive through otw there. but amazingly, we managed to drive right pass 3/4 of them. why can't they put the signs way before the turning instead of right beside the restaurant when we can't get in anymore.
sempena Jean's bday, i went to get a surprise cake from RT Pastry. that bakery is now my go-to whenever i need a cake cause its affordable AND yummy! to be on the safe side, i got a chocolate cake.
which leads me to the story of my blonde moment. as we were driving to PD, i suddenly had a whiff of chocolate. thinking someone was consuming chocolate without sharing, i whipped my head around and asked strernly "who's eating chocolate??" and Cheryll gave me the are-you-kidding look. and then i realized, oh, the smell was coming from the cake i was holding. good thing Jean couldn't see anything.
for lunch, we went to no. 3 rated restaurant in PD as per trip advisor.
really, no kidding.
it was pretty nostalgic going to the place where it all began 5 years ago. although everyone's first comment was "heh, this place looks smaller than what i remember". but we couldn't help but point out where we first met, where we had our lunch, where we hung out for the night, etc.
we began our holiday with sitting around doing trivial things like looking at each other's photobook and figuring out how to use cheryll's lomo camera which we failed miserably.
we then decided to do something a lil more productive by walking out of our room and headed to the spa!
it was fully booked with the exception of 1 slot which cheryll booked way earlier. so we went back to our room and out from the sun. it was ridiculously hot. we had a few rounds of monopoly deal. it took us a while to get the hang of it and by the time we did, jean left for her spa session.
after jean left, we spent the longest time deciding what to do next.
it was either to go for a swim but only if we're ordering in or to play candy crush till we head out for dinner. we kept going back and forth and i think in the end we decided to order pizza. but guess what! we couldnt remember pizza hut's new number and internet was too slow to check anything. i just checked, apparently they're still the same number oopsss!
so while waiting for jean to come back, we just sat on the balcony, playing candy crush overlooking the sunset. ahh... this is the life.
those with the phone, they're all playing candy crush.
and then cheryll helped me take some glamour shots lol.
before heading out for dinner, jean wanted to take a shower after her spa session. so we went to the beach for a walk.
i always love sunsets!
and suddenly, me and Mel was inspired to draw a picture of cheryll with our legs.
so according to trip advisor, the no.1 restaurant in PD is a Mexican restaurant. what are the odds? but then again, no. 3 was McDees. despite the good reviews, we were still skeptical about there. even after we drove out, we still didn't plan to go there. but after driving past it, we decided to make a u-turn and gave it a shot. and surprisingly, it did not disappoint. it was pretty damn good cause they were really generous with the cheese. i'm even going to say that it's better than Fresca in Gardens.
after dinner, we decided to take dip in the pool at about 10 something. and guess what we found out, the pool is open 24 hours!!! how cool is that.
oh, we even managed to see the peacock open up its tail. super, super gorgeous.
and the next morning, we went for a taichi class. pretty awesome and productive trip, we had. unfortunately, it might be our last trip together. so glad we did so much!
