it's a must to come up with a post or 2 during study leave. its the sudden urge of "i want to do anything but study". although this will be a rather quick one cause i'm quite panicked about the whole exam. i swear, finance was that one paper in uni i told myself i'm never doing this ever again. hence, all my electives were marketing or management based cause they were way funner! but alas, i took a job in finance which requires me to take a licensing exam in... you guessed it... FINANCE! *genius*
so, every year, me and my friends try to go on a holiday together. somewhere international and local. back in 2011, it was Singapore and Melaka. in 2012, it was Bangkok and Cameron Highlands. this year, we got our local trip out of the way by going Cameron again but hey, who can say no to free night stays. besides, the year isn't over, we might make another local trip sometime in the end of the year. oh hey, i forgot, we went to PD too for jean's bday.
so during our sleepover at Jean's CNY open house, we started looking at our international holiday options. it was a toss between Taiwan and Hong Kong and since i've been to Hong Kong a couple of times, i was leaning more towards Taiwan. ideally, it would have been Japan but unfortunately, i'm rather underpaid for that.
so, once we got our destination to Taiwan sorted out. it was a decision of how many nights, which hotel room to get. and here's cheryll's lil table.
unfortunately, Mel wasn't joining us cause she started loving us a little lesser than time or she loved a green dress more than us or something along those lines.
we went during labour day holiday 1 May to 4 May. it was a midnight flight 4 May so we arrived at like 5/6am on 5 May. just in time for Cheryll to go vote :)
for some reason, none of us were prepared for this trip. in the sense that my ipad was lacking decent series for the plane ride. and we err.... kinda packed for the wrong season. i'll get to that later.
we thought that the flight had an earphone splitter we could rent but it's only for longer flights. so, we entertained ourselves with photobooth instead.
if only some of jean's brain would melt into mine. i would be a genius!!!
and finally a decent one.
it was a wee hour morning flight. not soo wee... maybe 8am? we didn't book our meals for the flight so me and jean ordered Maggi cup.
and i'm pretty sure it was the best tasting meal on the flight! lol.
and it was such a small world. on the flight, while i was talking to the girls, i saw a lady across the aisle waving at me. it was my cousin and her husband and brilliantly, the first question that came out was "ehhh!!! where are you going???!!!" i'm seriously turning blonder day by day.
anyway, upon arrival to Taiwan airport, the pilot gives his lil speech and what caught our ears was that it was below 20 degrees Celsius. following that, everyone started putting on their thick cushiony jackets or thick sweaters. and well, we were feeling slightly panicked cause i bloody packed for spring weather with lots of flowy type outfits.
ah well, we decided we could just buy more clothes if we needed them.
but the cold was a nice kind of cold. my office is even colder soo a winter jacket wasn't necessary.
we checked into Amba hotel.
it a artsy-fartsy hotel in the middle of Ximending. i think this picture was made out of many many tiny stickers. so pretty! the hotel is like... Publika. but a hotel version.
as also chose Amba cause it can fit up to 4 people in the room. and we always love sharing a room. soo much more fun and convenient.
this is wear Cheryll and Jean slept.
i chose to have my own "room".
it's a very open concept cause there are no doors, just curtains to close. me and jean accidentally barged in while cheryll was changing... TWICE. hahahaha
in other news, the toiletries provided were amazing!!!!
shower gel, conditioner and shampoo had some sort of tea or ginger or some herbal thingy element in them. smelt amazing!
toothbrushes were pretty colorful ones, not those white its-obviously-disposable kind.
oh bum, i'm lazy to rotate and reupload this. but as you tilt your head to the side. the bar soap was ginger soap! it smelt really, really nice. i bought my mom the hand cream.
and with that, i'm gonna go back to studying. stay tuned. and wish me luck!!
